Calculated Value
110 Ω 5%
Resistance: 110 Ω (110 Ω)
Tolerance: 5% (Actual value can be ±5%)
How to Use This Calculator
- Select the color of each band on your resistor
- The first band is the first significant digit
- The second band is the second significant digit
- The third band is the multiplier (number of zeros)
- The fourth band is the tolerance (precision)
- Click Calculate Resistance to see the value
- Use the 5-Band Calculator for more precise resistors
Example: Brown (1), Brown (1), Brown (x10), Gold (5%) = 11 × 10 = 110 Ω 5%
Understanding 4-Band Resistor Color Codes
Using a resistor color code is a common way to figure out how much resistance a resistor has. The 4-band system is the most common way to color-code things. Each color stands for a different digit, multiplier, or tolerance value.
Begin at the band that is closest to the end to read a 4-band resistor. The first two bands are important numbers, the third band is the multiplier, and the fourth band shows how much leeway there is.
Our calculator makes it easier by doing the math for you right away when you choose a color band.
